Elderspire is a free auto-battler roguelike steeped in cosmic horror. You play a lone seeker who climbs a spire of nightmares, binding the eldritch things that dwell inside it into a team of your own and turning their dread against the next horror up the stairs. Every run is different: the map, the creatures you meet, the boons you are offered and the curses you carry are reshuffled each time you begin again.
It runs entirely in your browser — nothing to download, nothing to install. Pick it up for a five-minute run or sink into a long ascent.
How it plays
A run is a climb. You move across a branching map of nodes — battles, drafts, omens, healing shrines, item caches, and the floor's looming guardian — choosing your own path upward. Combat resolves itself: you build the team and the synergies, then watch your creatures clash. The depth is in the preparation, not in twitch reflexes.
Recruit
Captured horrors come to you as containment dossiers. Draft the ones whose affinities and synergies fit your plan, bench the rest, and reshape your roster as the tower throws new threats at you. Creatures like the Abyssgorger, the Mindflenser and the comet-borne Comethulhu each pull your build in a different direction.
Evolve
Survive and your creatures grow — hitting stat milestones, learning new moves, and evolving into stranger and more terrible forms. Items, mutations and the dread boons you accept along the way stack into builds that can break a run wide open, or quietly doom it.
Ascend
Reach the top and your team joins The Ascended — a hall of those who conquered the spire. Every creature you encounter is recorded in your bestiary, and finishing runs unlocks new starters and new ways to climb.
The nine affinities
Every creature and attack belongs to one of nine eldritch affinities, each strong against some and helpless against others. Reading the matchups is the heart of every fight:
- Void — the cold between stars.
- Flesh — that which grows and hungers.
- Psyche — the mind turned weapon.
- Tide — the drowning deep.
- Star — burning, distant light.
- Rot — decay made patient.
- Dream — what waits behind sleep.
- Husk — the hollow and the left-behind.
- Ember — the last warmth before the dark.
Early access — Tower One is live
Elderspire is being built one tower at a time. The first tower is fully playable today, with the complete core loop — recruiting, evolving, synergies, items, dread boons, omens, guardian bosses, the bestiary and the Hall of Fame — all in place. Four more towers are on the way, each with its own creatures, hazards and horrors at the top.
That means you are climbing a real, finished tower now, and the spire will keep growing beneath your feet as development continues. Feedback from early players directly shapes what comes next.
Free, and yours to keep
Elderspire is free to play and you can dive in with no account at all — your progress is saved right on your device. If you want your run records, bestiary and unlocks to follow you across devices, you can create an optional account to sync them to the cloud. We ask for as little as possible and we do not track you; see the privacy policy for the details.
